Kristín Anna´s song cycle is an intimate affair, finely woven confession of loss and longing carried out by a peculiar voice and unique finger flitting on a grand piano.
Kristín Anna was a member of the band múm from the 1998 until 2006, when she started performing one woman shows as Kría Brekkan, releasing few experimental and hard to get recordings. In 2015 she released HOWL under her own name, an improvised vocal ambient album and artwork created in the desert of California.
A much less abstract endevour, the album “I Must Be The Devil”, saw its light in spring 2019 by the means of Bel-Air Glamour Records and Vinyl Factory. This first release of recordings of Kristín Anna´s piano song compositions was recorded with composer Kjartan Sveinsson, former member of Sigur Rós.
A frequent collaborator of visual artist Ragnar Kjartanson, she is one of the musicians in his renowned installation “Visitors”. She performs a song she co-wrote with Ragnar, her sister Gyða and The National´s Dessner twin brothers in Kjartansson´s installation “Death Is Elsewere” that opened in The Metrapolitan Museum Of Art in may ´19.
In the last couple of years Kristín Anna has performed her music at the PEOPLE Festival in Funkhaus Berlin, At Eaux Claire Music and Art Festival in Wisconsin, Homecoming/MusicNow festival in Cincinnati, Big Ears Festival in Tennesse, at Vinyl Factory´s The Store X in London and The Kitchen in New York City.
